The Power of Prayer

The power of prayer is a powerful tool, but what is it? How many deeply devoted people have prayed to win the lottery? How many have won? How many parents have prayed to the deity of their choice everyday by a child’s bedside for a full recovery only to have to bury their child. A religious person may say your not supposed to pray for money and that it was just that child’s time to leave this earthly prison. Well since I’m not a religious man I have looked elsewhere for answers.
I will say that I do believe in the power of prayer. I don’t believe that “God” is the one answering. Many of the things that we pray for are just stupid if God exists as in the Abrahamic (Christian, Jewish, Muslim) religions. You should not be praying to win the lottery, have your sports team win, for good weather for your vacation etc… “God” does not answer those prayers.

Now the way I see it many of the things that people contribute to praying is just dumb luck or coincidence. If its not then God has a sick sense of humor or judgement. The reason I say this is, take a look a some natural disasters. You can have a tornado level an entire block of houses but leave one house completely undamaged. Now everyone on that block is religious and goes to church and follows the bible to the best of their ability. What makes that one family better to where God chose to spare their house. I believe that prayer has no power to change tangible things. If the Pope lost a limb no amount of praying would bring that limb back. For that matter if anyone lost a limb no amount of praying would bring it back. Bringing back a limb is a tangible thing. The only thing praying seems to effect are things that also can be proven without prayer. Such as curing the sick, winning the lottery, getting a new better paying job. You cannot prove that prayer affected any of those senairos. Just as I cannot prove that prayer did not affect them. There are many medical “miracles” out there that have attributed to prayer but I say no, the majority of these miracles are performed by well trained doctors. The handful that are unexplained, that’s what I’m getting to.

It has already been proven that prayer has effect on the mind. It has also been proven that active members of any religion tend to be on the healthier side. I say this is the power of the mind. The same way monk can raise their body temp or slow their heartbeat to a near stop or a 90lb mother can lift a car off her child. This has to do with a focal point

If you are sick let’s say with cancer you stand a better chance of survival if you have a spiritual family. This is because knowing or believing that you have a God by your side helping you through this trying time provides you with a focal point for healing. Knowing that you have others besides your blood family praying for your recovery provides you with not only a focal point but additional reasons to want to get better. These focal points allow the body to perform wonderful and miraculous things. This power is coming from within you but through your belief. This is why prayer works on things like healing, but not on things like regrowing a severed body part or fixing a deformed limb.

Some people say those who believe in God and miracles are delusional. I don’t believe that. I say they are misinformed.  I know God exist but I don’t believe that he exists the way the Bible says. I know that miracles do happen, but not how and why  most people  think or believe they do. The power of prayer is no different. It works, but not for the reasons people say it does.

The Religiously Stupid

I will start this off by saying that I am against religion, all religion. But I’m not against a belief in God or even many Gods. I was raised in an episcopal family. I was an alter boy for 10yrs of my life. I have studied the Bible, Koran, and Torah. I even considered going into the ministry as a teenager.

I have encountered many religiously stupid people in my life. If you don’t know what a religiously stupid person is then let me explain. They come in many forms and religions and its almost like a disease. The ones your probably familiar with are the radical Muslims. This is the most severe form of R.S. (Religion Stupidity). These people are willing to kill themselves and many others for what they believe their God told them to do. But like I said they come in all shapes and sizes.

The easiest way to find one is try to have an open discussion about religion with someone. If they get pissed off because you keep stating provable facts or your beliefs that differ from theirs then your dealing with someone who suffers from R.S. There are many levels to this. This is the most common you will find, and they are not really that bad. Nobody like to have their beliefs challenged. But it does get worse, the nest level up is an inability to accept facts.

You tell your friend that you believe aliens do exist because of the vast countless amount of stars out there, its almost impossible that we are the only ones. They respond by telling you aliens cannot exist because God would have mentioned them in the bible. You respond by saying God didn’t mention the dinosaurs so does that mean they didn’t exist? Your friend at a lost  goes off on some tangent that inexplicably ends with you going to hell for even thinking that aliens exist and that your only trying to confuse them. This is a sufferer of R.S.
The next type is also very common , especially now a days. This is the one that wants to push their beliefs on you. These are the ones that get on all our nerves. I’m not talking about simply going door to door. Im talking about the ones that actually try and do make laws that suit their religious beliefs. If it is immoral in the bible then there should be a law against it. I believe gay marriage is wrong and goes against God. Ban it. I think abortion is murder because it goes against against Gods will. Ban it. These are the people that even though something is not affecting them, they need, they have to intervene and make life hard for everyone around them because they believe they are doing Gods will.

If you run into these people the best you can do is just ignore them. Don’t even give them the time of day. They are not worth your time and all you will do is give yourself a headache arguing with them. The people that are not even willing to look at facts, well there is no hope for them. Just save yourself the time and walk away.

This is why I don’t like or agree with religion. I understand the need to believe in a power greater then yourself but many people take it far. Too many people try to force their religious beliefs on others in one way or another. Religion as a whole has caused way to many deaths in the world and held back advancements for hundreds of years. Most people don’t mind that there are other religions hell many of them out right accept it and think its perfectly fine. That’s a good thing. But its the bad apples like Pat Robertson that ruin the whole thing.

Destiny vs. Freewill

Lets first start off by defining both of these terms:

Destiny – A predetermined course of events often held to be an irresistible power or agency.

Freewill – The apparent human ability to make choices that are not externally determined.

Now as you can see these two simply cannot coexist. The Bible gives many examples of freewill but also gives us many examples of destiny or predestined things to happen. First I’m going to cover the destiny aspect.

I will first by saying that if we are all on a predestined path then God is a cruel and unjust God. It was already determined eons ago that I would write this blog, it was already determined that I would question the legitimacy of the Bible, if the Bible is the true word of God and accurate, then I was already predetermined to go to Hell for questioning God and not following his word. I had no choice in the matter. It was/is all part of Gods plan/will. That’s a load of shit. I’m going to be punished for something that I had no control over. I’m doing exactly as God planned and yet I will still be punished. This is how I look at God’s plan. God set forth a plan of action from the moment he created the universe. He laid out several things that MUST happen before the return of his son to usher in the thousand years of peace. For these things to happen millions of little things must happen first. That’s where you and I come in at. Most of us play a small miniscule part in this plan, but a part that must be done for the plan to come to order. Not only must these parts be completed but they must be completed on an exact timeline to have the events occur when and how they are supposed to.  Now how many times have you done something no matter how small that went against your instincts? How many times have you said I don’t know why I didn’t follow my gut? I knew I should have turned right, I saw the stop sign but….. But I always do blank, why did I do blank this time? I would like to leave this section with the following 2 verses (in my opinion the best 2 verses) that shows we do not have freewill.

2 Thessalonians 2:11-12

11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Matthew 5:17-18

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Looking at these 2 verses it sure does seem like we don’t have a choice. God has his plan and nothing you can do will change that.

Now for freewill. We would all like to believe we have freewill. We have a choice on what we would like to do with our lives. I will say that if freewill is real then God cannot be as powerful as the Bible makes him out to be. The problem with freewill and God boils down one major problem. If God know all the choices we will be presented with and all the decisions we will make then technically it’s not freewill. It would be the semblance or illusion of freewill. In true freewill there would be no way to accurately say what would and would not happen. Sure you can make predictions but the accuracy will never be perfect. Gods plan falls apart. Person A now has the choice to interact with person B which causes a chain reaction in person C life that affects person D-P. What if person A decided to simply not make a particular comment that was in God’s plan. That one comment while meaningless to you or me could have meant life or death to this person. You gotta think about for a minute, For a plan as grandiose and far reaching as what God has, every little thing has to work and work at the precise time he needs it to work. Freewill does not fit into this equation.

I’m sure some of you will argue that you can chose what you do. Or say that freewill and destiny can and do work together. For things like this I like to take a quote from a movie I like, The Adjustment Bureau:

You have free will over which tooth paste you use, or which beverage to order at lunch. But humanity just isn’t mature enough to control the important things

Like I said this is not true freewill will. If there is a plan then that’s it your freewill is shot. If there is free will then the almighty God is not as powerful as the Bible would him out to be. Who knows my destiny could be to strengthen someone’s resolve in God and the bible by writing this blog, but by doing so I am sentencing myself to Hell because I am questioning God and his word. But in destiny I’m being punished for a crime I had no choice but to commit because it was part of the plan. In freewill I am choosing this path on the belief that the bible is not the sole authority on whether or not I go up or down.

And yes for you scientific people out there I will concede there is one possibility of destiny and freewill working together in perfect harmony. That is the “multi-verse theory.” This theory states that for every choice that we will ever be presented with a universe is created for all the other choices we did not choose. The major problem with this theory right now besides the fact that it cant be proven is that each universe is governed by destiny. God in his infinite knowledge knew every choice I would make and every other person in the history of the universe past, present, and future were going to make and created a universe for each and every choice. No for the problem, in at least half these universe I am sentenced to hell because I went with the plan of that universe. So in the Billion Billion Billion Billion universes a Billion Billion of me are going to Hell. That sucks.

What it boils down to in my opinion is we just don’t know. Some of believe in God and his book While people like me just believe in God while still others don’t believe in any God. This is not an question that we will get answered until we die. Hopefully I’m right.

Religion: Pros and Cons

I have come under fire fire as of late for my “religious” views. Some say I cant believe in God because of my views on the Bible. Others are telling me that the Bible can no longer be held in the same context as it once was.  Over my lifetime I have been ridiculed for my beliefs, I’ve been asked to leave a church and not to come back, and I’ve been condemned to hell.  I have also been told that my views on Christianity have been skewed by the Devil. (I found this the most laughable) For one It’s not just my views on Christianity, its my view on all religions.  Now I will admit that religion has its place in human society but not like it has now. Religion, no the belief in a God or many as some believe, is and was fundamental to human existence. (as a whole)  But religion has also held us back, gave us a scapegoat per say. Religion has helped humanity through our darkest times but has also caused some of our darkest times. It is my firm belief that we should all turn from religion and go a more spiritual route.

  • Helps us cope with situations that are out of our control.
  • Inspires us to live by “mostly” good moral code.
  • Gives us something/someone to aspire to.
  • Something to look forward to after death.

In my eyes these are some admirable things for the pros of religion.  As someone who was raised in the church and was very active, I have often found myself asking God to grant me strength to persevere. I have spent all my life trying to live up to the guidelines set forth by God. While in the darkest times in my life I never felt alone because of my belief in God and trying to adhere to the moral code (not the 10 commandments)  set forth by the Bible I have found myself “blessed” in many ways.  Also because of my belief in God I have no fear of death, although what happens when you die we may not agree on. I know plenty of people who on sheer belief alone have made it through worse than I. The amount of good that belief in God can do is simply mind-boggling. But this is where the dangers come in.

In my OPINION Christianity was never meant to be a religion. It is a belief system, something for abide by, use as guidance. In my research I have come to believe that the Bible has corrupted Christianity to the root. Here is why I say this.

  • Religion gives us a scapegoat
  • Religion gives you unattainable goals
  • Religion causes wars
  • Religion causes hate

Religion as a whole gives mankind a scapegoat. We all blame it on the will of GOD, or the Devil made me do it. Instead you need to look in the mirror and ask yourself how to fix your own problems or stop and think before you act. No the scapegoat reason will not serve to get you out of trouble legally but it has and does put many people’s mind at ease for crimes commented in Gods name. Yes the Bible sets the rules in direct opposition to human nature. Look at the 10 commandments, I’m not talking about thou shall not kill, and honor thy mother and father. I’m talking about the crimes of the mind.

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.

To covet is a basic human desire. There is no getting around that. Your setup to fail. You fail you feel bad, you feel bad you go to church, you go to church the pastor tells you to try harder, you try harder you fail again, you fail again you feel worse etc….. It’s a never-ending loop. Think of all the breakthroughs that were made because man coveted something that was not his. When we covet it makes us strive. I want a house like my friends, I want a car, I want more money. Because of this I work harder, My best friend has a video game I want, I go out and buy it. Yes if you give in and steal that’s a different story covered by a different commandment. Look at all the wars that been fought over religion. Just look at the crusades. The conflicts now in the middle east. These all stated because of religion. Look at all the people who were put to death for heresy. I say it teaches hate because take a look at the Salem witch trials, the gay/lesbian bashing, even racism. Granted these examples are gross examples of man corrupting the Bible, but the Bible does say that God will not allow his word to be corrupted with out punishment

If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Now its obvious (to me at least) that if the Bible is by some chance real (as in from divine inspiration) then it has already been changed, and is now corrupted and pretty much useless.

Now that I have grown some both in spirituality and mentally I have come to realize that God cannot be found in a book or a building. God can only be found inside of you. You have to trust what you know is right. You have to trust your inner-self. This is the essence of God. God has placed a piece of him in you. That piece of God will guide you to the truth. All you have to do is trust yourself.

The Bible: Its Views on Women Pt2

Ok so far we have gone over how the Bible has condoned rape forced marriage and pedophila. I do belive that all my examples came from the old testament. Now I know any of you “Bible Thumpers” out there are going to say, “well when Jesus died on the cross the old testiment became null and void.” Well……..not so much. I will cover that at the end of this post. But lets continue, I will include verses from the new testament this time.

Matthew 5:31-32

31It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

32But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Now this doesn’t look too bad. But upon closer inspection I did notice something funny. I read a few verses before and after. No where does is say that a women can divorce her husband. So It seems that I as a man can sleep with all the women I want and let you know about it and you cant do a thing about it. Oh and you still gotta spread your legs for me when I want.

Once again I as a man am over you as a woman in Gods eyes.

1 Corinthians 11:8-9

8For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.

9Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man

1 Timothy 2:11-14

11Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

13For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

With these two verses you (women) are being told SHUT THE F**K UP AND DO AS I SAY!! You were made from me, You were created from me, you must be silent, and you hve no authority over me as a man. WOW!!!! I know if I ever told my girlfriend/wife  this my nuts would be ripped from my body and burned as I watched.

Now all of these verses came from the new testament. There are more many more to chose from, but I think this should suffice. Now lets move on to this nonsense about Jesus changing the old testament rules.

John 7:19

19Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?

Matthew 5:17-19

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven

These verses are spoken by Jesus himself. They say plain as day the old testament is still valid and still enforceable. Besides, if the old testament was no longer valid what does that do to the 10 commandments? They were created in the old testament.  Also if this were true why even put the old testament in the bible to begin with?

So as you can see the bible does not think very highly of the “fairer” sex. So people tell me what you think.

The Bible: Its views on women Pt1

Once again, Just to let you know I believe fully in God. I just dont trust the Bible.

Lets take a look at how women are viewed in the Bible.

Rape, objects to be taken

Judges 21:10-24

10And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the valiantest, and commanded them, saying, Go and smite the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the children.

11And this is the thing that ye shall do, Ye shall utterly destroy every male, and every woman that hath lain by man.

12And they found among the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead four hundred young virgins, that had known no man by lying with any male: and they brought them unto the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan.

13And the whole congregation sent some to speak to the children of Benjamin that were in the rock Rimmon, and to call peaceably unto them.

14And Benjamin came again at that time; and they gave them wives which they had saved alive of the women of Jabeshgilead: and yet so they sufficed them not.

15And the people repented them for Benjamin, because that the LORD had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.

16Then the elders of the congregation said, How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing the women are destroyed out of Benjamin?

17And they said, There must be an inheritance for them that be escaped of Benjamin, that a tribe be not destroyed out of Israel.

18Howbeit we may not give them wives of our daughters: for the children of Israel have sworn, saying, Cursed be he that giveth a wife to Benjamin.

19Then they said, Behold, there is a feast of the LORD in Shiloh yearly in a place which is on the north side of Bethel, on the east side of the highway that goeth up from Bethel to Shechem, and on the south of Lebonah.

20Therefore they commanded the children of Benjamin, saying, Go and lie in wait in the vineyards;

21And see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin.

22And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come unto us to complain, that we will say unto them, Be favourable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war: for ye did not give unto them at this time, that ye should be guilty.

23And the children of Benjamin did so, and took them wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they caught: and they went and returned unto their inheritance, and repaired the cities, and dwelt in them.

24And the children of Israel departed thence at that time, every man to his tribe and to his family, and they went out from thence every man to his inheritance.

Now I know it does not specify rape in these verses, but think about for a min. You have 12,000 men con marching into a town with orders to kill all the men and all women that are not virgins. (by the way if you read a verse or 2 before this you see that God commanded this) Then they took 400 virgins as POWs. Gave them to some men. THEY GAVE THEM THE WOMAN!!!!! They didnt ask these woman they were given away like candy. Then when they saw there was not enough they told the men to go and TAKE some of these woman. Then when the fathers came to argue this they said dont be upset you should do us this favor because there werent enough woman in the town we just slaughtered and dont feelguilty because you didnt give them to us.

I sorry but thats BS. As for the rape what do you think happened to these women that were forced to marry these men? Read between the lines.

More rape, More women as objects. Pedophilia

7And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.

8And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.

9And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.

10And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.

11And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of men and of beasts.

12And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by Jordan near Jericho.

13And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them without the camp.

14And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, with the captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, which came from the battle.

15And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?

16Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.

17Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

18But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

This one is with Moses. Wow bet you thought Moses was a pretty cool guy and all. Hand picked to free the slaves and all. Well lets look at these verses. Here at first they just killed the men. OK, fine rules of war, I can live with that. They took all the women, kids and loot. But then when Moses sees this he is furious. Tells them to kill every male kid and every woman who is not a virgin and you can keep the virgins for your self. They even said children. CHILDREN WTF MAN, CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Women you are beneath us men.

Ephesians 5:22-24

22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Now to be fair this does continue on by telling men how to treat their wives. But lets look at this. I see as as because I am your husband you are to do as I say when I say. If I say jump then you better say how high. If I say spread your legs then you better spread them. How many of you women are willing to this. If you call yourself good christian women then you better be doing it. Sorry but once again this is a load of BS. This crap was written by men to subjagate you women.

Ok thats it for now. I will continue this with a part 2. There is still much to go and I am skipping over a lot.

The Bible: Fact or Fiction

Now before we go any farther I just want to put out there that yes I believe in God, no I don’t believe in the Bible.

Lets start from the beginning,

Genesis 1-23

[1] In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
[2] And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
[3] And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
[4] And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
[5] And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
[6] And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
[7] And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
[8] And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
[9] And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
[10] And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
[11] And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
[12] And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
[13] And the evening and the morning were the third day.
[14] And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
[15] And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
[16] And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
[17] And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
[18] And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
[19] And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
[20] And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
[21] And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
[22] And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
[23] And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Now this covers up to the Fifth day. It seems to be a pretty accepted “fact” that 1 day to God is approx 1000yrs to us humans. As stated in 2Peter chapter 3 verse 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. So lets have a look at what these verses really say. In 5,000yrs the universe was created, the earth was created all the land was fertile enough for plant life and God had created the animals. 5,000yrs WOW!!! Science has the the earth aged at 4.5 billion yrs old that is 4,500,000,000yrs that at the max. they are finding rocks that are 3.5 billion yrs old on a regular basis in N. America, Greenland, Australia, Africa, and Asia. Now what this tells me is that one of these 2 are wrong. a total of 6,000 yrs to create the universe or 3.5 – 4.5 billion yrs. Now to be fair lets minus the time Humans have been here (as we know them) 200,000 yrs. So that means for about 4.3 billion yrs there were no humans. Can you see where I’m going with this yet. Ok lets look at the rest of the creation story.

[24] And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
[25] And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
[26] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
[27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
[28] And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
[29] And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
[30] And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
[31] And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

I stopped at the end of Day 6 because nothing was done on the 7th day. Now take a look at verse 26. God said lets create man in OUR IMAGE. I don’t see in His image or in My image. Now look at verse 27. Some how it went from our image to His image (confusing) but God created Man and Woman together. Now this i the Sixth day. Do you see anything about taking Adam’s rib. or how about being created from dust and dirt. Ok lets look at chapter 2. The first 7 verses is what intrigues me.

[1] Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
[2] And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
[3] And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
[4] These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
[5] And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
[6] But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
[7] And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Look at verse 5. “and there was no man to till the ground” Well we just saw not 2 “days” ago God created man and woman in his own image. What happened to them? Where did they go? Skip ahead to verse 7, God formed Man from the Dirt and breathed life into his nose. Ok……where is the formed in his image? Where is the female created at the same time?

Now this is just with in the first 2 chapters of the Bible. I can show you numerous areas where the bible is either wildly inaccurate or contradicts itself. Now the whole point of this is not to piss people off (well maybe some people) but to cause people to open their eyes and think. While the bible is a wonderful captivating story, Its just that a story. It gives you a good set of rules to live by. The Bible was written by man for man. Man is fallible therefore the bible is fallible. I will continue pointing out these inaccuracies and contridictions in later posts. Until then I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes.

“Let us accept that God exists. But what if he didn’t? Well, we would have to invent him, because he is necessary for the individual / society , for whatever reasons. So then, if he DIDN’T exist, we would actually be living exactly the same way, believing in a God that is not there. – Voltaire”
